JimM Posted October 13, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted October 13, 2012 Does anyone have the book: America's Finest US AIRBORNE UNIFORMS Equipment & Insignia WWII by Gary Howard ? Expensive book, but maybe it is shown there (?) JimM
Quartermaster Posted October 13, 2012 Share #4 Posted October 13, 2012 I checked in America's Finest US AIRBORNE UNIFORMS Equipment & Insignia WWII by Gary Howard and it doesn't appear anywhere that I can see. There's the Griswold bag, the carbine case, the leg bag along with other familiar bags but nothing on the one in question. Sorry
saddler Posted October 23, 2012 Share #5 Posted October 23, 2012 I can't help thinking that these are made from old surplus Griswold bag material - folded over with an added gusset & carry strap - as a non-issue "military fashion" type of item Look at it this way: WHAT '45-era weapon will fit inside one of these ? Only a thought....
Ronnie Posted October 24, 2012 Share #6 Posted October 24, 2012 Well for one, the 1911 or 1911A1 will fit nicely. A better question though is.....why? Darby
