Gunney Chris Posted August 29, 2009 #87 Posted August 29, 2009 Nice collection there, what would be the correct ranks to be used during the Vietnam War?
Lee Ragan Posted September 1, 2009 #88 Posted September 1, 2009 Nice collection there, what would be the correct ranks to be used during the Vietnam War? Same ones as today. No major changes since 1958 except the Sgt. Major of the Marine Corps. For dress blues of the period, they had cut edges and not merrowed as today.

SgtMaddoxUSMC Posted January 19, 2015 #99 Posted January 19, 2015 What is up with those three-rocker MGySgts? From 1946 through 1959, there was no MGySgt and when it was re instituted in '59 I thought it was how we currently see it with three chevrons and four rockers. From what I understand prior to that ('54-'59) the ranks were E-1: Private (no insignia) / E-2: PFC (one chevron) / E-3: Corporal (two chevrons, no rifles) / E-4: Sergeant (three chevrons, rifles) / E-5: Staff Sergeant (three chevrons, one rocker, no rifles) / E-6: Tech Sergeant (three chevrons, two rockers, no rifles) / E-7: Master Sergeant, First Sergeant & Sergeant Major (three chevrons, three rockers, no rifles)(three chevrons, three rockers, diamond)(three chevrons, three rockers, star). So where does the three rocker Master Guns fit in?
SgtMaddoxUSMC Posted January 22, 2015 #100 Posted January 22, 2015 Anyone have any idea? Or even better a reference that indicates when the three rocker MGySgt was used?
