Recommended Posts

2nd Class Observer was a black or dark blue circle with a red ring with white cross-hairs. 1st Class Observer same with added red triangle. Same patch with a red shell for Gun Pointer. Casemate Electrician a voltimeter. arilway Sergeant, red train stracks on black within a red ring. Transportation Sergeant, a red wing on black within a red ring. First Class Gunner a red shell on a khaki backing with three tan chevrons. Master Gunner a red shell in a yellow wreath ok a khaki rectangle.

First Class Gunner, a dark blue background with 3 olive drab chevrons and a shell in a ring below. Master Gunner a shell in a wreath on a rectangle. ;) Sarge

Here's an odd one in that the wreath is red instead of the usual yellow colored thread. This Chief Mechanic also rated as a Gunner and it is interesting the original rectangular blue field ground was cut down to contour. It great when you find chevrons original to their uniforms.

I got lucky along with VonDeckbar, Netzly, & January in finding a treasure trove on ebay about 7 or 8 years ago at an average of $5 a piece since the vender did not know that he had 1902 pattern chevrons. There were about 3 dozen chevrons all together and they were all exceptionally rare pieces. Here are two from that find. Fireman and Engineer Coast Artillery Corps, Army Service School Detachment.

On an independent find of about 4 dozen dress blue 1902 pattern chevrons and also about $5 on average this was one of many rare piece in the lot!!!

Chief Planter, red crossed shovels and water mine on black or very dark blue circle with red inner circle, and a Casemate Electrician a red water mine and yellow inner circle. Chief Planter same, with a red bar below the mind. Gun Commander, red crossed cannot with inner yellow ring and same design for Gun Pointer with red bar below. think.gif Sarge Booker
