THAT GUY Posted October 11, 2012 Share #4 Posted October 11, 2012 From what I remember it is a squad leaders pouch that held extra bandages.
GIl Sanow Posted October 11, 2012 Share #5 Posted October 11, 2012 Sq Ldrs carried this instead of an entrenching tool -- and in the same location on the back of the M1910 haversack, under the mess kit pouch. G
RustyCanteen Posted October 11, 2012 Share #6 Posted October 11, 2012 Sq Ldrs carried this instead of an entrenching tool -- and in the same location on the back of the M1910 haversack, under the mess kit pouch. G Precisely, thus the reason for the long attachment tab.
Big Al Posted October 11, 2012 Share #7 Posted October 11, 2012 Someone actually tried that arrangement with the pouch in the place of the shovel. Pictures were posted in one of the various threads here about this pouch. The result was the pouch was covered down to the snaps. Not a very convenient or logical arrangement. 12thengr Posted October 11, 2012 Share #9 Posted October 11, 2012 Not convenient or logical; sounds very military.
dartheric1 Posted October 16, 2012 Share #10 Posted October 16, 2012 M1916 General Purpose Pouch "Squad Leader Pouch". Used to carry two cans of squad foot powder and other medical accessories. The placement of said pouch has already been answered. Ive seen a clear pic on it being hung from a cartridge belt aswell.
Jack's Son Posted October 17, 2012 Share #11 Posted October 17, 2012 So.....it's agreed it is a squad leaders pouch, but was it a utility pouch, or did it have a specific use?
