beezman Posted February 13, 2008 Share #1 Posted February 13, 2008 These wings came in a huge lot of 60s/70s jump wings, US and foreign. What are those? 82nd Airborne association? Thanks for your help.
craig_pickrall Posted February 13, 2008 Share #2 Posted February 13, 2008 They are Freefall wings and came in basic, senior and master. I think they were approved at 18th ABN CORPS level and were not approved by the Institute of Hearldy. The same set exists for the 18th CORPS except for the change in patches. beezman Posted February 13, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted February 13, 2008 Thanks Craig. Do you know the time frame of these wings?
craig_pickrall Posted February 14, 2008 Share #4 Posted February 14, 2008 If I could dig deep enough in my pile of stuff I could probably give pretty accurate dates but I don't know exactly where to start digging. So best guess is they came into being in the late 70's or early 80's and were probably used until the authorized HALO wing was approved.
beezman Posted February 14, 2008 Author Share #5 Posted February 14, 2008 Thanks Craig, all I need to know is that they are post-Vietnam, hence outside my collecting field
brad k Posted February 17, 2008 Share #6 Posted February 17, 2008 I remember those when I was in the 82nd, 1979-86 they were for the 82nd sport parachute club and not a military badge, they were not authorized for wear on the uniform.
