This is a Good day for Mrs.Archie W.Melton of Stephens,Arkansas.The portrait of her with her two sons,James and Richard will hang proudly on the wall.A reminder of them while they are serving their Country overseas in WWII.But Sadly,This portrait becomes a Legacy,James and Richard did not survive the War.This is a grouping of the two Brothers with this haunting portrait of them with their Mother.RIP Melton Brothers

Bombardier on the "American Beauty" B-24H

KIA: 4 November 1944

 

Bombing run to Misberg Germany.

 

Known information states that 5 crew members did not bail out.Surviving crew members were led to crash site by the Germans, it was said the 5 crew were dead at the wreckage

This is a very moving grouping that demonstrates the sacrifices made by servicemen/women AND their families. Glad they are in someone's hands that appreciate these somber facts. :salute:

I can't imagine her grief. She lost one son in November and spent every anxious moment that followed worrying about losing her second, only to have that happen seven months later. This group represents the war itself through the extreme sacrifice made by so many - overseas, and at home.
