History Man Posted September 19, 2012 Share #1 Posted September 19, 2012 I was offered this group by the vets granddaughter and she wants me to make an offer. I am not sure if these patches hold value since I dont collect them. The armored SSI seem to have a handsewn number on them. Any info would be appreciated. SgtJim Posted September 19, 2012 Share #2 Posted September 19, 2012 Could be theater made, but not sure about that specific armored unit history. Its a high number.
doyler Posted September 19, 2012 Share #3 Posted September 19, 2012 Phil They look fine to me.Not uncommon to see the Tank Battalions use a plain Armored triangle and have the unit number sewn or sometimes inked in by hand. Both triangles are US made. The one with the wool border is an early patch collectors cal "woolies". THere is a lot on the net abouty the 774th Tank battalion
History Man Posted September 21, 2012 Author Share #4 Posted September 21, 2012 Thanks for the extra info, I am not the best when it comes to patches but will start to educate myself. I have made arrangements and am meeting the granddaughter on Sunday. She also has his named GCM and rank patches she is throwing in. Sabrejet Posted September 21, 2012 Share #5 Posted September 21, 2012 Nice patches...but I think I like the page torn from the calendar with its hand-written note better!
