glenm Posted September 12, 2012 Share #1 Posted September 12, 2012 Well..... I'm proud to say that 2nd Armored in Europe's display at the Victory Show over here in the UK was a resounding success, with over 70 re-enactors proving 2AiE's methodology of getting likeminded people working together as one team works. The guys from TFH, GI44-45, the 1st Infantry Division, and "Jonny Halftrack's Ruffians" worked brilliantly along with our own guys, proving that the methods that we've been employing for years on our European events can work in the UK. Everyone has an equal share in a 2AiE display or event, you're there as part of the team, not there with it. Looking forward to the next time!! 8) The vehicle owners need thanking profusely too: Ian and Gordon with their Halftracks; Jon with his two Halftracks; Shep and Max with their Stuart and M8; Jon and Mitch with their M8 and M20; Gav, Daryl and Gordon with the Sherman and kindly-loaned Schwimmwagen; Lars for arranging the M18 TD, the Kettenkrad and the German Field Gun from Kevin; Chris for his M18 TD; Karl, Glen, Mark, Pete, Steve, Russ for the jeeps (if I've missed anyone out there, my apologies!). Cheers guys! The static display (although with a daily German mortar barrage and subsequent reaction it wasn't very static) consisted of a mixed combat team (Tanks, Recon, TD and Armd Infantry) just behind the front line at Hasselt, Belgium on the 8th/9th September 1944, resting and refitting. The public battle at the show involved us as part of an armored/infantry attack on German lines - whilst not perfect, the reaction from crowd and organisers was that it was the best one they've seen at this event over the years. The whole team (most of it anyway): Part of the HQ in the barn: The TFH Armored Infantry squad with one of Jon Titmuss's Halftracks: The GI44-45 Armored Infantry squad in Gordon's Halftrack: The 1st Infantry Armored Infantry squad on Gav etc's Sherman: More photos are available on 2nd Armored in Europe's facebook page... Cheers, Glen.
