I liked the deep shadows on this soldier stationed in Germany after the war. Here is my attempt to capture the look.

Here is a sketch of Brigadier Lindsay Inglis - commander of the 4 New Zealand Infantry Brigade that fought in Create 1941.

 

A liked the pipe.

Working with multiple figures is a challenge along with the shading and such. Here a squad entering Germany in 1945.

I'm trying to cut back on the ink detailing and rely more on the paint to tell the story.

My subject here is an entrenched Soviet Soldier waiting for the counter-attack.

Hello,

 

this one, with a few other sketches, is one of my favorites ... I don't know exactly how but you succeed in creating some kind of atmosphere, and this stretcher bearer really seems to suffer under the weight of the wounded.

I do like the contrast between light and shadows which creats a very moving atmoshpere.
