The pin and catch look British.

Nice pin! The catch actually looks American to me, but I'd hate to contradict Jack's Son! :w00t:

Also, the term "Sterling" (as applied to precious metal) is more American, I think, than British.

The "C" Catch and pin are definitely an American type. The usual British made pins have a triangular bend on the pin hinge. British sterling silver jewelry usually is marked .925 and has hallmarks, but not always.
