Few M1s and PASGTs..

Although I'm interested in all areas of military history, focussing mainly on WW2 though to today, my main collecting focus until recently has been WW2 German. But over the last year or so my collecting has moved towards US kit, mostly Vietnam through to today, so the US collection is still fairly small in scale. But I thought I'd share a few of my recent US helmets with you. Some came to me as they are, others are "put togethers" but in the case of "put togethers", I've aimed to get suitably dated bits together where possible..

1) 60's M1 (65 dated cover)

 

 

2) 60's M1- bit of a USMC look going on (68 dated cover)...

3) 70's M1C Para helmet (73 dated cover)

 

 

4) Late 70's/early 80's M1 (77 dated Mitchell cover - last batch produced! - clip-on chin strap and liner with clip in suspension - seen a few photos of M1's in use in this mix of Mitchell cover and later pattern chin strap)

5) Late 70's/early 80's M1 ('80 dated ERDL cover earlier pattern liner and chin strap)

 

 

6) Late 70's/early 80's M1 ('81 dated ERDL cover, clip-on chin strap, cats-eye band and liner with clip in suspension. I think of this as my RDF representative lid..)

7) 80's M1 - last of the line - Woodland cover, clip-on chin strap, cats-eye band and liner with clip in suspension

 

 

8 & 9) PASGTs: Size M shell dated '84/'85 with '96 dated woodland cover / size L shell dated '86 with '90 dated Choc Chip cover

 

 

10 & 11) PASGTs: Spot the size difference!! Size L shell dated '87 with '04 dated DCU cover / size XS shell dated '86 with '94 dated DCU cover - the OD cats-eye band was on the helmet but under the cover when I bought it)

 

 

12) PASGT size M shell dated '03 with '89 dated snow cover.
