Hi Patches,

I love these old 1930 / 40's light tanks, I have owned a turret plaque off one for some years, can't recall now where I actually picked it up, heavy brass casting.

Hi Patches,

thanks yes I think it's a really nice piece, pleased to say that yes I do still have it and displayed at home, unlike many other militaria pieces this is a once in a collector's life find, well my life at least.

Eisenhower at Fort Meade Maryland in like  1920-1921, he was the  executive officer and then as commander of the 305th Tank Brigade. He's standing by a French Renault FT. One source states the 305th Tk Bn had the big Mark VIII tank.

The soldier clearly mis-labeled that photo. No place in Camp (now fort) Lewis is that devoid of trees.

I don't know if Yaki-Vegas firing range was open then, but it could be there.

The place opened in 1942.

"From 1942 to 1946 the U.S. Army leased 160,000 acres (650 km2) of land in the area for the Yakima Anti-Aircraft Artillery Range. Then in 1951 the Army purchased 261,000 acres (1,060 km2) for the Yakima Firing Center, which would become the modern Yakima Training Center."

Could be at the Mojave Anti-Aircraft Range, the place that would be renamed Camp Irwin, Mojave Anti-Aircraft Range opened sometime in 1940, or more likely Camp Merriam this place would be renamed Camp San Luis Obispo in the early in war, Camp Merriam, there was two of them apparently, one up at San Francisco opened in the Spanish American War, and this one located down  south, opened in 1928 for the California NG and we imagine, the Reserves, the 91st Division in particular.

I have the crossed rifles plaque from a 1930 tank,  nice to see this front cover of a 1940's LIFE magazine with a brass crossed sabres plaque, hopefully it's not been posted previously
