manayunkman Posted August 1, 2012 Share #1 Posted August 1, 2012 When I decided to start keeping airborne this was the first group I actually got from the vet and not a family member. He lived on Sharon st in Harrisburg across the street from Frank Szlogar who I hadn't met yet. I met Mr Kramer the day Sharon street had its neighborhood yard sale. He brought the stuff out and his dear wife talked him into getting rid of it. Many years later I went back to talk to him but he had passed away. His wife had me in to look at her brothers stuff a KIA USMC group but that is for another day. Kramer is the shorter of the two.
manayunkman Posted August 1, 2012 Author Share #2 Posted August 1, 2012 What is interesting is that Mr Kramer had only one jump into Normandy. He landed on the roof of a house and broke his back. His war was over. Kramer had no idea what the stars on his wings were for and never mind that he had the incorrect amount.
manayunkman Posted August 1, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted August 1, 2012 The dog tag.
manayunkman Posted August 1, 2012 Author Share #4 Posted August 1, 2012 Kramer on the right and his buddy. You can see the engineer castle insignia on their collar brass.

Jack's Son Posted August 1, 2012 Share #6 Posted August 1, 2012 That's a small, but relevant group with the Picture, wings, patch and dog tag. I like it a lot.

Dijkhuizen Posted August 1, 2012 Share #8 Posted August 1, 2012 Nice C company 326th AEB grouping. I wonder if Mr. Kramer served later on in the 326th/101st AB because the picture is made after the normandy campaign.
Brian Dentino Posted August 1, 2012 Share #9 Posted August 1, 2012 Wow Manny, are these great groupings ever going to stop coming.......wait, I don't want them too! Another outstanding grouping, and direct from the vet is just icing. Thanks for taking the time to share ALL of these great items you have in your (dare I say) massive collection!

Waltz41 Posted March 13, 2019 Share #19 Posted March 13, 2019 Nice little group! Funny, just noticed that I think they misspelled (or mistook more likely) the hometown.....being a PA guy.......pretty darn sure it's HuMMelstown!
