4th Ranger At Anzio Then An FSSF Replacement

I picked this up yard sailing in 1989 or 90 on my way to work.

It was Mr Kelly's first yard sale.

He told me that he served with the 4th Rangers and that they had taken many casualties.

He was used as a replacement in the First Special Service Force.

The FSSF patch was found in the pocket.

Ranger scroll is Italian made.

The helmet was found in a German cannon pit at Anzio.

The pit had been hit by naval gunfire and the helmet suffers from great damage.

It was found without a liner.

Hope you all enjoy it.

M

CIB and all.

Sorry more light than I wanted. Scroll has more vivid colors than picture shows.

Now that isn't something you see everyday. Love your postings M. Almost looks like that stahlhelm was white washed at one time.

The light has paled the helmet out. It was never whitewashed.

I passed it on back when this thread first started.

I sold off a collection with hundreds of groupings and was going to catalog them by starting a thread on each one before I sold it but because of one reason or the other I didn’t accomplish that goal.

Great grouping, whatever happened to it?
