my civil war cavalry weapons

Recommended Posts

I finally found a nice cavalry sword at a gun show to go with my guns, the sword is an ames made in 1864, the sharps carbine and the army colt are both also made in 1864 and the condition on all three match up with each other pretty well.post-195-1201469540.jpg

Brad: Congrats on that very nice looking Ames. Is the markers mark inside a scroll design or is it an arched style? I've seen Ames 60's stamped both ways, although I don't know why they are marked differently...anyway I would love to see close ups of that sword and again congrats on a great item.

it is in a straight line, the blade, grip and scabbard all have MM inspector marks, and a number stamped into the bow of the cross guard, is that a property mark? I would have liked an earlier one but this one was in nice shape with no buffing on the blade or scabbard and a nice origional grip and wire and I think was a good price at 600.

Brad: Thanks for the close up shots! 600 is a great price as well....FYI MM stands for M. Moulton and is a commonly seen inspector for that year model. Again congrats
