manayunkman Posted July 17, 2012 Share #1 Posted July 17, 2012 I got this helmet back in the 1980's. I can't remember where it came from or if I added the camouflage cover. Something tells me it came in a trunk from a USMC vet and I just kept the helmet but that is just a foggy memory. Did the Marines have a different olive color to their helmets ?? And the liner looks to be an earlier variant with snap provisions for the sweat band and light green washers. What can you tell me about that ?? 20 photos to follow. Thanks for everyones help. History Man Posted July 17, 2012 Share #21 Posted July 17, 2012 As Ron said, its a transitional Inland liner. Appears to have a nice rayon nape strap too, too bad it doesnt have the snap in sweatband though. Overall a killer helmet set with all the fixings. USMC-RECON0321 Posted July 17, 2012 Share #22 Posted July 17, 2012 That is just an all around great helmet set!! You may not have the snap in headband, but the next best thing (if not better in my book) is the double bar buckle headband. Great one!! USMC-RECON0321 Posted July 17, 2012 Share #23 Posted July 17, 2012 Also, you asked a question about the color of paint? It all looks to be original paint to me.
etienne Posted July 17, 2012 Share #24 Posted July 17, 2012 Early transitional Inland liner, the shell is nearly perfect ... and both have their original paint Even the liner's chinstrap seems to be an early one, in excellent condition ... great set indeed !!
