If I remember correctly those patches came off a roll and were given to every 3th man; original pics showed only about 1/3 wore those patches. I don't know if they were original, post-Korea or repro. Flak jackets were all original and the larger weapons were all issued by the Army (and fully functional).

After a year of assembling the proper Korean War Army gear, I recently did my first display at a local military cemetery living history event in conjunction with other era displays. In the last photo, one of he vietnam guys came over to chat (I am on the left in the ridgeway cap). Overall, people were very receptive and interested in the era, and I hope to get to do another display whenever I can. Even met a Korean War Air Force vet who hung around for awhile.

Captainofthe7th

Here's an impression from this year's Memorial Day ceremonies. I pick a different uniform each year to wear as the Taps bugler.

This year I built the uniform around this shirt that belonged to Edward G. Polanski. As a 1st Lieutenant in Korea, he flew over 140 missions as an L-19 pilot and earned a few Air Medals with the 2nd Division artillery. I found a very interesting Stars and Stripes article about him and his co-pilot taking out a Chinese machine gun nest with a .45 pistol.

To anyone in the greather Los Angeles area - the nearby mountains and foothills are excellent places to take re-enactment photos, e.g., the Santa Susanas, the San Gabriels and Santa Monicas.

Outstanding presentations here! I do a Korean War GPW & M38 jeeps at car, gun, & airshows here in Montana. Our military vehicle club has mostly WW2 vehicles, brilliant, but as mentioned here, Korea was over-looked. I am constantly improving it, again thanks to the ideas here! I do wear HBT & jump boots. In a few parades, carrying Korean War vets I have worn wool shirts, pants, & the pile cap - as MT weather can be 100 or snow, any time of year. I do the 187th Airborne as I was airborne infantry for 27x years. At one car show I met a fellow who had done both 187th jumps in the Korean War... we talked for about two hours - did he have a bit to tell me! I wish I had a pic of myself, but you get so busy discussing vehicles, weapons, etc. I put a "basic combat load" into each vehicle, usually only one at a time; and a cot with various ordnance & gear, including some PRC "trophies" Will try to post a few more pics, but here are a few. At the West Yellowstone car show, next to Yellowstone NP... there are tons of foreign tourists quite amazed by especially the Garand, M1 Carbine, & M1919A4

Getting an M100 trailer, filled with ammo crates & cargo, again the kind that would be air dropped, 187th

ALSO if you get a chance to see that military vehicle museum in Dubois WY , it is one of the best military museums on the planet [no exaggeration]

Less of an impression I reenact with, and more of me trying on some of the Korean War items I use for displays, but here you go.

That chest pocket is very defined. Did you put a ration in there?
