Hey Ian,

Great photo report, thanks for posting! Looked like another great year at Duxford…Did the rain hold off? It’s a shame we couldn’t be there but we’re hoping to make it next year again. Hope you didn’t spend too much money at the Eastman tent! ;)

Will

Hi Will...yes it did, pretty much, apart from a light shower or two on Saturday am. As for Eastman's...not this year! How many A2s does one bloke need @ £500+ per throw!? ;)

Good Lord what a nice gathering of birds!

We just had a nice little fly-in a few miles from my house. The B-17, Sentimental Journey was there. My son spent the day there working with his CAP squadron. I didn't take in the show as I've been burning the candle at both ends the last few months and my first low-key weekend in ages meant I got to sleep and lay low.

Thanks for posting the photos!!

I think I heard this bad boy fly over this weekend.

But I was too late to see him though.

Escorted by a pair of Spits actually Erwin. It's been a very active week for the BoBMF as the new Bomber Command Memorial was recently unveiled by HM The Queen in London. The Lanc flew over the ceremony and released a shower of poppy petals from its bomb-bay.

For those of us not able to make the over the "Pond" trip , thanks very much for sharing your experience with us , man that looked like a very good show and good weather for it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had the chance to see the Candian Lanc recently at the MAAM show in Penn , and got to go inside her , also right up near her when she cranked up for taking off for the show , nothing better than hearing those engines right there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope to get to see that P-36 some day and the early P-40 , I ahve alos been lucky to have seen a few Spits and a Hurricane here in the US and most of our fighter types , bomber types at a few shows here/there , looking forward to seeing "Razorback" P-47 and hopefully a 109 and 190 soon and the 262 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Duxford panoramas. The carapace of the American Air Museum can be seen in the background. The grass field is extensive.

Still looks kind of futuristic...even today! Must've been like seeing "The Millennium Falcon" in its day!

I just found this thread too. I can't believe the variety of planes at the show! It must have been amazing to see AND hear those planes! Thanks so much for being our "roving reporter"!
