The historic Duxford Airfield in Cambrigeshire, England, is a part of the Imperial War Museum and is known first and foremost as the home of The American Air Museum in Britain, plus the IWM's other principal aviation assets, as well as a base for major airshows such as "Flying Legends". However, it is also home to the "Land Warfare" collection...the IWM's extensive collection of historic armoured and soft-skinned vehicles from WW1 to the present day. This collection is second only to that of Britain's "TanK Museum."

Naturally, there is an emphasis on British equipment, but US equipment is also represented in both British and US service. Most exhibits within the extensive hall are set in very effective dioramas. Most notable in this respect is "The Normandy Experience", which has at its heart Monty's HQ, including his famous command caravan. There is also an adjacent museum dedicated to the local regiment, The Royal Anglians, and the many campaigns they have fought in, right up to and including Afghanistan.

No visit to Duxford would be complete without taking in the Land Warfare collection too. Once a year they dust off the exhibits and have an open "Tank Day" when the runners perform for the public. Hopefully the following pics will give you some idea of what the collection is like.
