USMCRECON Posted June 22, 2012 Author Share #30 Posted June 22, 2012 On to the WW-II area. This was one of the original display sections but it's been modified very slightly recently. The vignet below is at the entrance to the WW-II section and shows a hospital corpsman working on a wounded Marine.
USMCRECON Posted June 22, 2012 Author Share #31 Posted June 22, 2012 This was a surprisingly striking display. It's the home front and the old radio in the background is broadcasting President Roosevelt's 8 Dec announcement of the attack on Pearl Harbor. You haver to look a bit closer to get the full effect, though. There's a picture of a Marine on the coffee table. You can see the look on the face of the mother but you have to look closer to the floor under the table. there, a dropped dropped tea/coffee cup with the saucer broken where it hit the leg of the table. There's also "wet" coffee/teas stains on the carper and on the dropped book.......a very powerful and well done display that catches the emotion of the sudden, unexpected news that the country is at war. I'm getting a bit tired now so I'll finish posting these pictures tomorrow morning.
