CNY Militaria Posted June 16, 2012 Share #1 Posted June 16, 2012 Bought this at an antique shop today. I have no clue what it is even after a web search. I am thinking Naval Aviation/Rhode Island/USO related? Thoughts? Thanks! Justin

Mitch Posted June 17, 2012 Share #4 Posted June 17, 2012 Hi , I believe you are on the right track. The Rhodies were a WW2 USO group from Rhode Island. I'm not sure if they were state wide or specific to a city. Regards, Mitch
CNY Militaria Posted June 17, 2012 Author Share #5 Posted June 17, 2012 Thanks Mitch. I tried searching for sonething with that criteria without luck. Thanks again, Justin
blkjack07 Posted June 17, 2012 Share #6 Posted June 17, 2012 There is a reference to "Cranston Rhodies – USO – WWII" in this lady's obituary ... http://obit.carpenterjenks.com/obitdisplay...t&id=687866
vzemke Posted June 17, 2012 Share #7 Posted June 17, 2012 Seems like the USO in Rhode Island was pretty active in the patch making department. Here is my "Rhodies" patch, presumably a higher "rank" or grade with the three stars on the USO pin and two bars. Also shown is a Newport RI specific USO patch (didn't come with the Rhodies patch). CNY Militaria Posted June 17, 2012 Author Share #8 Posted June 17, 2012 Very interesting information gentlemen! Good to see another variation of this patch too, and with the pin as well.
