Cobrahistorian Posted June 16, 2012 Share #1 Posted June 16, 2012 I'm not usually one to stop at garage sales, especially on my way in to work, but I had a feeling this morning when I drove past a pretty busy one. I turned around and sure enough, sitting there were three beer steins named to CWO William Ruffin. The first is from his time in the 91st Transporation Company (Light Helicopter) and the second is an 8th Infantry Division Aviation stein and the third is from Franklin House in Mainz, Germany. All three are named to him, and after a little digging, I found out that he'd enlisted in 1948, was in Germany flying H-34s ten years later and in 1968 was flying CH-54s in Vietnam with the 478th Aviation Company (Heavy Helicopter). The 91st has a pewter H-34 on top of it and the rotor actually spins!
