atb Posted June 8, 2012 Share #4 Posted June 8, 2012 Designation history for that SSI from the US Army Institute of Heraldry- The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized for the Alaskan Defense Command on 24 Mar 1943. It was redesignated for the Alaskan Department on 31 Dec 1943. On 1 Mar 1949 the insignia was redesignated for Headquarters, U. S. Army Alaska. Levi I don't have any of the loose decals, but I do have an original fixed bail helmet, painted white, with the polar bear decals on the front.
