MasonK Posted February 16, 2015 Share #103 Posted February 16, 2015 Second pair of wings to the same vet, marked JR Gaunt. Photos show these being worn on his M42 Jump Jacket.

GIKyle Posted February 17, 2015 Share #114 Posted February 17, 2015 Here's one that came with a uniform group - There is one sewn on the jacket, one on the shirt, and two loose ones - Looks to be a British made medical oval. Kyle
castagain Posted January 13, 2016 Share #115 Posted January 13, 2016 Great ovals and wings on this thread, thanks for posting them. I noticed a couple of B&W photos on page 26 of John Andrews' book "Airborne Album 1943-1945 Normandy to Victory," showing Capt. Bill DeSalvo and two other members of the OSS 2677th Regiment in Italy wearing background ovals with their jump wings. Does anyone know what type of ovals these were? I didn't know the OSS used background ovals. Thanks, Donovan P. (2/504th PIR, 1983-86)

Kadet Posted January 19, 2016 Share #117 Posted January 19, 2016 Great ovals and wings on this thread, thanks for posting them. I didn't know the OSS used background ovals. Thanks, Donovan P. (2/504th PIR, 1983-86) This Ike jacket belonged to SSG Louis Michielini, Company D 2677th Regiment OSS. His oval is badly faded, but is a silk Italian made example in royal blue and white. I believe these colors denote generic infantry and don't think the 2677th had a unique oval. Kadet Posted January 20, 2016 Share #120 Posted January 20, 2016 Thanks! Here are two more of my favorite type. Both men were 101st, but transferred to the 82nd/504th at the end of the war. The first oval belonged to CPT Henry Quist who served as a doctor in both the 101st and 504th. The second jacket is one I snagged a few years ago at the SOS and is un named... aacapt Posted May 22, 2017 Share #125 Posted May 22, 2017 Here is another scan of the oval I posted in "Individual and Unit Identification". The obverse is clear, but the reverse is slightly out of focus on the Glider Wings due to the thickness of the pinback. I got it from the nephew of the recipient (David Carmon Hodges, 34192861, 82nd Airborne) along with his medals except the PH his nephew said was stolen. Hodges' records were destroyed in the fire of '73 in St Louis, so I have no hard evidence of any of his nephew's story. Any ideas on what this oval is?
