Jeeperz83 Posted May 29, 2012 Share #1 Posted May 29, 2012 Thought I'd throw this out there since I've gotten more into VN souvenir boonie and ball caps as of late. If the hat is in decent overall shape, I usually stuff with some plain white (free of any dyes or other chemicals) tissue paper to keep the hat in it's intended shape. Some are on foam display heads but many are simply stuffed and sitting on the shelf. My concern has been the brim of some of the locally made ball caps- has anyone had adverse issues from allowing the brim of the cap to rest on the shelf? Too many styrofoam heads take up too much space and look cluttered but I want to do something more than just a shelf full of hats. What are some of you guys doing? Bluehawk Posted May 29, 2012 Share #2 Posted May 29, 2012 I am not a headgear collector, but from a museum preservation standpoint your method will work just fine. I suppose, to be very picky, IF for some reason the brim/bill shape was an integral part of an artifact's provenance, then obviously it would be better off not stored flat on the shelf.
