I remember in 1992 it was announced they were to phased out in favor of the black Jungles.

I still wore them in the ARNG in 1997 and USAR, 1998-1999.

They stopped issuing the green ones after the black ones (with speed laces) were in the system but AFAIK nobody every got in trouble for wearing the green ones after 1996. Only place I could think that might happen is if a soldier was at an NCOES school.
Rakkasan187 Posted September 16, 2025 #8 Posted September 16, 2025 I wore my green jungle boots up until I retired in July 2005 after 22 years of service as as Master Sergeant... Never had any issues wearing them or anyone telling me not to wear them, unless we were in a unit specific formation where we all either wore black jump boots or other all black leather boots (no black jungles). cord_nipper Posted November 2, 2025 #9 Posted November 2, 2025 Interesting. I got out in 95 so it didn't apply to me anyway. Thanks for the clarification.

Leigh I wore mine until 2004 without any issue. In 03 I deployed to Iraq and had green jungles in my boot rotation until my desert pairs were well broken in. I continued this until 04 when I received the ACU uniforms at which time I just continued to use the desert boots. I was retired in 07 and doubt it ever would have been an issue to keep wearing them for normal duty. Scott
