Just wish adding some more in this great topic for such a great fighter plane.

Here P-40K tail number #358 of 16th Fighter Squadron, 51st Fighter group, 14th A.F. in China, winter 1943/1944. One of P-40s flown by Capt. Dale E. Pinckney, more precisely the one he was flying in the mission when Japanese flak shot down him (subsequently rescued).

The only photo of Capt. Pinckney I've been able to find out so far (but here he's climbing into another plane - not #358), unfortunately seen from behind.

And here, his personal 'Blood Chit' (of the 'souvenir' type, so called by today's collectors) I was able to get some years ago.

Still in great shape, and moreover made in a mix of leather/velvet/cloth.

Awesome stuff BlueBookGuy. that Blood Chit is very impressive.

Here are a couple of Australian P-40s in the "western desert".

Thanks for those great pictures and items BlueBookGuy. The P-40 is my favorite W.W.2 fighter. I know it was not the "best" fighter of the war, but it was there when we need it.

I really like the picture above. The young pilots looking "cool" hanging out with a P-40. The older I get, the younger these men look. So mature for their age and experiences, pictures like this will keep them young forever.
