sgtbarnes44 Posted May 5, 2012 Share #1 Posted May 5, 2012 Right from France. My bet is that the helmet had a medic panel that was painted over for camo reason... Very far from mint but a true combat veteran lost for years...

37thguy Posted May 5, 2012 Share #15 Posted May 5, 2012 Odd, but I see no red from the cross? Looking for for 37th Division VietNam and earlier Special Forces & USS Hemminger DE 746 items "Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rapidly promoted by mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end." Harlan Posted May 7, 2012 Share #16 Posted May 7, 2012 There's something about the pigment with red paint that can often do strange things when exposed to time and the elements. I have a very nice WWI helmet and the red painted numbers are almost black now but the rest of the paint is still visible. This 'might' be the case here (?)
dogface44 Posted May 7, 2012 Share #17 Posted May 7, 2012 Very Nice helmet Sgt! and your pictures are excellent!
sgtbarnes44 Posted May 8, 2012 Author Share #18 Posted May 8, 2012 Very Nice helmet Sgt! and your pictures are excellent! Thanks a lot. I am very found of these old rusted and long forgotten relics. Their lost but real history background make them, in my humble opinion, a lot more interesting and valuable than mint, unused and unissued helmets. I am also trying in getting better picturing my collection as even piece of junk looks more attractive when they are well photographied. (Contrary is also true) Cordially. JC
