I am not sure what this one is. Anyone?

Hi Mark,

It looks like I'm not alone in organizing navy rates. I'm putting my rates in plastic 2 pockets pages. Still not done....

To answer your question that rate is a navy counselor. You know I like that khaki master nuclear weaponsman ;)

Looks like you have a nice collection

Why is the arrow pointed the opposite direction on this one?

Mark,

I think it was changed after the war or in 1948.

That's the "correct" way, the arrowhead is supposed to point forward, the same direction the eagle faces. The other direction is just a manufacturing variation.

Thanks for the posts, these rate threads never disappoint!

AND FINALLY the last one.

I wonder what I would have if I actually collected these?

Mark,

Probably would look like this. I will probably end up with at least 3 more books before I'm done....

Jason, I had all of mine in drawers. I use to have all of my patches in binders like you have there with your rates. After a couple visits to Teamski's house I made the switch to all of my patches / rank / rates / etc onto comic book backing boards and into plastic sleeves. I then place them in file cabinets or into copier paper cardboard boxes with lids.

SEABEEBRIAN
IS2 - Current rage badge. The Intelligence Specialist field is so top-heavy, junior guys have a hard time advancing. This 2nd Class with gold is an indication of that problem. If he didn't make first by 15 years of service...he'd have been done.

You can still retire in the navy as an E5 as long as you came in before 1998. High year tenure for E5 in the reserves is still 20 years (last I looked)

Mark,

That sounds like a good idea. I may use my riker cases later too. But I do have a way to store my books. I have all my ww2 rates together, pre ww2 rates ect.

Correct on the reserve E-5s. NAVADMIN 056-05 limited HYT for (Active) E-5s to 14 years. USMC has the lowest HYT at 13, while the Air Forces has it set for 20 years.
