Bob Hudson Posted April 23, 2012 Share #1 Posted April 23, 2012 I've been waiting for this for almost two months. It has the seersucker blouse and skirt, two sets of wool Alpha uniforms with coats and skirts and one tan blouse and two ties, a utility shirt, two bid overalls with a matching Daisy Mae hat, summer and winter dress caps, summer garrison cap, leather purse with the green cover and strap for use with the summer uniform, raincoat with wool liner, discharge certificate and copies of a photo and text from a newspaper article when she enlisted in 1943. The moths have left their marks on some of the wool pieces, but overall it's a pretty nice set. Here's her tombstone at a local cemetery:

Bob Hudson Posted April 23, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted April 23, 2012 It's hard to find the complete purse set with the green cover and strap, and the seersucker blouses are often missing the buttons.

Bob Hudson Posted April 23, 2012 Author Share #6 Posted April 23, 2012 The first class of USMCWR enlistees reported to Hunter College for training on March 23-26 1943 and this Marine enlisted a very short time after that and was likely among the first 1,500 or enlisted Women Marines (eventually there were about 17,600 women enlistees).
