Mr.Jerry Posted April 21, 2012 #1 Posted April 21, 2012 The story that walked in with this is that this came off of a the Officers mess cabin from a WWI destroyer. has anyone ever seen one? any photos out there? any idea what its worth? (I may be able to buy it) Thanks!
topdcnut Posted April 21, 2012 #2 Posted April 21, 2012 The shape of the perforations is found on great lakes ship lights, it is a good brand I just cannot name it.
topdcnut Posted April 21, 2012 #3 Posted April 21, 2012 Also it is an electrified oil lamp, The lens is for outside use not interior (ie officers mess) Is it brass, copper or galvanized steel? It is a nice lamp but the electrification has reduced the value and if it is brass or copper it is salt water use and galvanized it is fresh water use (ie great lakes) hope this helps. John in Manty
Dave Posted April 21, 2012 #4 Posted April 21, 2012 Looks like an exterior ship's light - probably civilian - that someone made into a lamp in the 20s or 30s. Dave
Mr.Jerry Posted April 22, 2012 Author #5 Posted April 22, 2012 Thanks Guys! I knew you old salts would know! I will proceed cautiously! Jerry
