3-187th "Rakkasans" 937 Hill 10-20 May 1969

The Infamous battle of "Hamburger Hill" REMEMBER did a reenactment to portray the events on the 10-20 of May 1969.

 

The battle took place on Dong Ap Bia (Ap Bia Mountain, Vietnamese: Đồi A Bia) in the rugged, jungle-shrouded mountains of South Vietnam, 1.2 miles from the Laotian border. Rising from the floor of the western A Shau Valley. The battle on Hamburger Hill occurred in May 1969, during Operation Apache Snow, and it opposed from one side:

NVA: 6th, 9th, and 29th Regiments

US:101st 3rd Brigade made of 3rd Battalion 187th Infantry, 2nd Battalion 501st Infantry, 1st Battalion 506th Infantry.

ARVN: 1st Division (the 2/1st and 4/1st)

Other unit participated in operation Apache Snow but were not directly involved in the battle of the Hill.

Great tribute..

 

Great to see Rakkasan history portrayed..

 

The unit received the Presedential Unit Citation for it's actions during this Battle. Over 11 Assualts up the hill

 

I was in C Co 3/187 Inf. in the 80's, and we had 100's of pictures on the walls of Vietnam Rakkasans..
