It was a balmy 36F when I took dear pup Gunji for walkies at 7:00 AM.  Don't tell the moderators, but I'm wearing my 1939 dated British scarf comforter. Gunji didn't seem to mind the temperature at all.

I was looking at the resemblance to Harrison Ford with that hat on . . . . . . .  well the resemblance hat to hat anyway. !!!

I wouldn't like to see the owners face when the film finishes and the Reo is returned to it's one careful owner that hired it to the film,  lick of paint and a wipe down with a polishing rag and be good as new again . . . . . . .

Hi Graham ( McDuff )

Another USMC item for you, sorry I don't have any details or information on Cpl. Pierre Guibor other than he possibly served in the Corp around 1960 / 1966.

From the Shoebox . . . . . .

An Italian made novelty wallet sold to allied troops in Rome 1944, in this case Cpl. Frank E. Toro.  The front cover can be opened to either the left or right.  Whatever is held within the wallet transfers from side to side automatically dependent on which way it's opened

photo #1 closed wallet

photo #2 opened right to left like a book.

photo #3 opened left to right, opposite to a book.

Hi Peter,

never having owned one then they are unfamiliar to me, however what I thought was immediately wrong was the saddle, I believe that they should be either a BSA or maybe even a Brookes leather saddle.

Hi Mikie,

I hope I am not trying to tell you something that you already know, the WWII British cap / comforter can also be rolled into a head cap and worn as seen worn by the British soldier bending in this wartime photo.

Grandson William's photos . . . . . . . .

While dating and archiving photos of young William at two months old I looked at this image and with his hand gesture it appeared he was explaining some existentialist theory to his grandmother, so I added a few words . . . . . . . .

Normandy Then & Now's . . . . . . . .

Post D-Day in 1944 a bar in Ste Marie du Mont was re-named as ' Bar du 6 Juin ' and has virtually remained as that since 1944, sadly it passed from the original family due to illness, it then went into a period of closure. Eventually it was taken over by new owners who replaced the 1960's plastic type facade and replaced it with a frontage more befitting 1944. So the first photo shows the 1944 painting across the road opposite the bar, with further photos attached. Inside on the walls are several original 1944 paintings by American troops, the current owners have a memorabilia museum in rooms behind the bar.

Today in the US, we celebrate Thanksgiving. Its a day to give thanks for our blessings and good fortune. But also to eat turkey with freinds and family, and watch football.

High on my list of things to be thankful for is USMF and  especially all of you here at Norman D. Landing. Thank you and best wishes to one and all.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, have a great time.

yes probably everyone in the UK would also love to eat turkey today but presently the country is being run by a bunch of turkey's . . . . . . . . .

the trials and tribulations of the last three years of Covid are coming home to roost.

The world is being run by lower than turkeys.

Thank God we are all still alive because that could change in a flash.

With that said enjoy your thanksgiving while it’s still legal to do so.

Ok so ' The Good, The Bad & The Ugly ' may not be regarded as a  war film but there are scenes within the film depicting the American Civil War. Also there are ' blunders ' within the film, once again American WWII uniform and equipment can be seen in use with several actors including one of the lead actors Eli Wallach who are to be seen wearing the WWII green striped elasticated suspenders.

Also in several scenes there are actors wearing U.S. WWII Mackinaws . . . . . . .

Attached below is an 11 minute video on Youtube showing Then & Now images of the filming locations, difficult as most of the film was shot in mountainous areas, but a worthy attempt at finding the locations.

Locations for the good the bad, the ugly
