Hi Kat, well if you love reading, then here is a whole library of information for you to read . . . . . . . in the link below. the category for Jeep spares is G-503, yesterday I was checking out some sealed boxes from my vehicles shoebox, these are tail-lights and the category is G-103, which is M-3 Stuart tanks so I opened up several of these checking the condition. These lamps pre-date the standard lights with blackout sections used on U.S. military vehicles during WWII which I have shown below. During the war there was only one red tail-light on the left, and a Blackout light on the right, now due to current road regulations all collectors vehicles have to fit two of the red left-hand stop and tail lamps. . . . . . . In Belgium collectors vehicles are allowed to be restored as they left the factory, so many of us run the original set-up of one tail & stop light in our Jeeps... and no indicators For the occasional nighttime drives we attach a small battery powered LED lights to the rear body grab handles... The NOS Ford GPW lights below will go on the Jeep... the buckets and the inner light units are F marked but oddly Ford didn't mark the light covers contrary to many other manufacturers such as Corcoran Brown (CB), Guide of the General Motors and Yankee, just to name a few... Hi Johan, well done lucky you !!!!! in the UK they have to have two rear stop and tail, possibly because that would be the law by the time the Jeeps left the military and registered for the road around 1945 - 1947 or so. Hahhaaaaa I re-alined your lamps for you . . . . . . . . Johan Willaert Posted April 13, 2021 Share #18237 Posted April 13, 2021 Continuing with sorting Jeep parts, here's another unissued NOS Ford marked light. It is the Black Out Drive Light unit generally mounted on the left fender of the Jeep. It was introduced in late 1942 and earlier made Jeeps such as mine would not have had one from the factory, but many were retrofitted in the unit's motorpool... Most likely the mechanics mounting the light would not have bothered to check and match the make of the vehicle and light and many other brands exist...
