Called in this morning after my vaccination jab and took this photo of the Ford stamped gearbox cross member which was on his Jeep when it arrived as a wreck in need of a rebuild from the USA. It appears that it was used off-road without a gearbox skid plate hence the cross member suffered a serious dent possibly from hitting a rock feature . . . . . . Good for you. Hope it went well. I had my first shot of Moderna flavor a week ago. Most people I know had little or no trouble with the first shot. Hi Mikie & Rene. well you are both on the right lines, after I posted the quote about the damaged cross-member from a friends Jeep I remembered the compacted sand piece I had which had once coated a Jeep transfer case subbing rubber. I added an original Jeep stock NOS rubber by the side of the compacted sand to give an image of what had been inside the sand. It mounts on the cross-member to support the transfer case as can be seen in the images below. I would have liked to believe the NOS rubber had a Ford ' F ' mark on the rubber but I am more inclined to think it is the ' F ' design logo of the Firestone company, the ' F ' can be seen at the top above the central hole, to the left side of the hole it has ' Patented 193? '. According to the Jeep ordnance supply catalog it is part number ' GPW-7781-A ' and cost 78 cents . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Norman D. Landing, Forum Normandy Correspond April 10 2021. General Apathy Posted April 10, 2021 Share #18219 Posted April 10, 2021 . Back to store stocks . . . . . . . when I had hundreds of original unissued HBT shirts, they were all flat pocket ( no rental vent ) dated 1943 even though there were several manufacturers. Notice the three different shades, then note that the buttons on the left have a central depression with wreath and star surround and fixed with a rivet, the one in the centre has sewn brown plastic buttons, and the one on the right has the standard thirteen star buttons. The quartermaster allowance which was given for shades and style of buttons, I think in the stocks that I had there were in fact five different styles of ' button / studs ', another one I recall was a metal flat surface ( no stars ), the fifth style I can't recall. I kept mainly sizes 42 and below for European sales and shipped most sizes 44 / 50 to a dealer friend in the USA . . . . . . . . . . . Norman D. Landing, Forum Normandy Correspond April 10 2021. General Apathy Posted April 10, 2021 Share #18220 Posted April 10, 2021 . Back to Jeeps . . . . . . . . Back in my early days of Jeeping I bought anything I thought would be needed in the future in the way of original NOS spares. I bought this sealed box of five - 15amp. of circuit breakers and have never ever had to replace one in a Jeep since the day I bought the box. I also have a matching box of five - 5amp circuit breakers and likewise never had to replace one of those . . . . . . . . . Still it's nice having Ford marked spares. . . . . . . Norman D.
