Hi Johan, good call, one on the left late Willys body, one on the right a mid - late war Willys body.

Final part of this three part Jeep questionnaire, sometimes thinking outside the box needs to be done when working on a Jeep. This is a quick and easy field mod I made and used yesterday to help me complete a job I needed to do on the Jeep and didn't have any better option to hand.

. Hi Mikie, well back to earth again, it is all hard to accept without evidential and physical proof to look at.    Back to a Then & Now post provided for us by long-term friend Len

. Hi Mikie,   Len has sent me the image of the sole of an American military boot embossed in wet concrete at the hospital site, note the reversed image of the sole ' US. ARMY ' .

Hi Ken,   Apologies, I just hit the little "like" button in the post and had not made a comment. Nice to hear from you again. Hope you are well and enjoying the Calvados! Seasons greetings.

I have no idea, but maybe Johan does. I do know that Ken has a crisp mind when the chips are down.

Normandy Finds . . . . . . . .

I was really pleased to find a small sack of these old hand cut decorative nails for oak plank doors, I need to make a couple of rustic oak plank doors to replace a couple of modern doors on the bathroom and the shower room.

Here he is in Normandy.

One day he went into a Navy office and pressed his shoulder on a freshly painted door jam.

That jacket he has on has an institution green smear on the back.

Great photos.Looks like Mr heller has a stripe/band painted on his helmet

Correct me if I am wrong but this doesn't look like a military vehicle.

Yet there it sits in their landing craft.

.

Hi Peter, great set of photos and memorabilia, thanks for posting .

The US Navy regularly used Ford GTB's rather than GMC trucks, looking at the curve of the wing upwards from the footstep and the curve at the front of the wing then I don't think its a GMC, heres a shot of a Ford GTB of which I think the wing is more in line with the vehicle in your photo.

.

Hi Johan, well done, three out of three correct . . . . . . . . go to the top of the class.

A syringe is a better way to do it, as I didn't have one to hand I perfected the field modification instead, whoever designed the access to the master cylinder never serviced a vehicle, also the inspection hole in the bell housing is not large enough for a grown mans hand, and several other minor design faults, otherwise pretty perfect.

Great photos.Looks like Mr heller has a stripe/band painted on his helmet

By the time I got the helmet he had painted a very small oak leaf cluster in black over the stripe in the front.

I had the jacket as well but I don't have pictures of them.

Thanks for the comment.

Utah beach after the landing.

.

Hi Peter, this photograph you added listed as Utah beach I said earlier that I had never seen that style of beach defence anywhere on Utah beach ( certainly where the invasion occurred ) also there is no beach debris and no ships or boats off-shore.

However reviewing the shot and once again looking for any identifiable landmarks I spotted what appears to be a faint reflection which may be off a tower on the island of Ile de Tatihou off the coast near St Vaast la Hougue ??. If it is that tower then this image may have been taken across the bay from somewhere between Quineville and St Vaast la Hougue ( not an invasion area ) but once again I will say that I have never seen any images that show this style of defence along any of the Utah beach coastline, but I will continue to search for images..
