Sabrejet Posted October 26, 2015 Share #8626 Posted October 26, 2015 Ken...in an episode of Combat Dealers, Bruce Crompton did his damnedest to buy a Schwimmwagen off an old French farmer who had it under a tarp in his barn...sounds like a cliche but it's true! He offered him a very large amount of cash but the canny old Frenchman held out for even more! Running Schwimmers can command five-figure sums these days, such is their rarity. Hi Ian, thanks for the link to the Schwimmer as I haven't see any of this series, A friend here said that he met Bruce Crompton in a militaria store in St Marie du Mont last week, he was researching items for a future episode. General Apathy Posted October 27, 2015 Share #8629 Posted October 27, 2015 Testing, Testing, Testing . . . . . . . . . . for the last two years I have been using my iPad to add comment to the forum, for some reason now when I use the ipad the ' Add Post ' button does not connect my post to the forum. ????? The reason I used the ipad was because my desk-top computer doesn't show images when I am formulating a post so I have no idea if an image is included in my post, this is a test to see when I post if an image appears. If the image should appear it is of 93 year old Sam Boyard ( 83rd Div ) from Utah state visiting Normandy for the first time in 2012 since 1944. Sam related to me that he had returned fire at a building over in the distance, when I drove Sam across Carentan to the building he was totally amazed that his damage to the building was still to be seen and had not been repaired. Well fingers crossed Norman D. Landing, Forum Normandy Correspondent, October 27 2015. .

Hiya, thanks for the link, interesting find, not certain that it's other than a museum display piece as it stands, any restoration at all and all the originality would be totally gone. Norman D. General Apathy Posted November 2, 2015 Share #8639 Posted November 2, 2015 From the shoebox . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I have been into the shoebox and pulled out this Red Cross sewing kit gift set to add to another topic on the forum started by Joe ( member jmar ) on American Red Cross items, it's an interesting thread and I have posted a couple of other items there http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/252683-american-red-cross-insignia/ It's very amazing the way all the different color threads are woven together and can be individually pulled from the group. Inside the pack is a felt square with a number of needles and small pins attached. Norman D. Landing, Forum Normandy Correspondent, November 2 2015. .
