Ken,

I haven't been on the forum all weekend. I have missed some more of your great posts! That is too cool that you can go metal detecting in your neighbor's yard. I can also see why you have been busy at your own house.

Thanks so much for the great posts once again! .....Kat

Hi Kat, welcome home ;) , thanks for the thoughts on the posts, yep this week is busy preparing and building a BBQ shack, I will probably add some photo's when it gets underway.

Hello Kat...nice to see you back in the fold again!

Ian

I told you Not to worry Ian!

It's alway Kat's norm, to hide from the forum

When she wants men to feel her rejection.

She plays helpless and shy, with that wounded look in her eye :crying:

Then swoops down for the best in their collection! :pinch:

.......... (USMC Qualification Badges, that is!)

A collector named "Norman. D. Landing",

Whose collection's considered outstanding,

Moved the whole lot to France,

All boxed up in advance

With no need to consider re-branding!

Now.....we're only missing a pub to share them in!!

Three nice ones within a half-mile of here...."The Star"..."The Three Horseshoes" and "The Cross Keys". Take your pick...the drinks are on me. Proper beer, none of that Euro-fizz or "Lite" rubbish!

Normandy ' Barn ' finds .............

Well I have been off line for several day's due to friends visiting, which entails dining, entertaining, visiting sights, visiting other friends, street markets, museums, beaches etc etc.

As we had been doing all the above on an endless stream and burning the candle at both ends with late nights and early mornings we took a break yesterday Sunday 13th and visited an annual street flea market that most town's have here in France.

Many people scoff at the mention of found in a barn in Normandy, shown above is just such an item, three metal containers each extremely rusty and containing eight fired British 25 pounder rounds.

Other items that we saw and bought I am sorry to say that I forgot to take any shots of, but will do that tomorrow and post.

Normandy ' abandoned ' finds .............

Sunday 13th May myself and two friends visited one of the annual street flea market's that most town's and villages have here in France, on the outskirts of the village we found the abandoned railway station, note some of the bullet strikes on the red brickwork, the plastered area's between the windows and brickwork obviously having been replastered post war.

Normandy ' Then & Now ' .............

Comparision photo's of a group of German soldiers stood outside the church in St Mere Eglise, the photo would appear to have been taken before the invasion on June 6th.

Usually there are a few minor changes in the before and after shots but this one looks unchanged. Even the stained glass window seems the same. Maybe a coat of paint and that's it.

I'm thinking those guys in the then photo were gone pretty quick after June 6. That was their scheduled moving day.

Great photos as always Ken.

Good to hear you have been having fun. Since you hadn't been around I thought maybe you finally decided to move to an old age retirement home.
