General Apathy Posted November 6 #27030 Posted November 6 . Update. As reported last week I had a great day out in the Jeep with a local friend as the passenger, heading home I decided to top up the tank and replace the fuel used that day. Next morning the Jeep cranked over well BUT refused to start, so I left it in the garage, next day started investigating the reason for the starting failure, just as a matter of course I checked the points, condenser, coil and plugs all working well but changed them anyway still no-start. Today I thought I would change the carburettor, having taken the carb off I looked down into the inlet manifold which had a layer of ' fuel ' laying there with globules of water at the bottom. Drained the fuel from the tank and refuelled and all tickety-boo and running well again. Norman D. Landing, Forum Normandy Correspondent, November 06 2024. ...

No intention of making it fireable, just a Frankenstein wall hanger. It’s been a fun project and only a couple of more odds and ends to get, then call it a day. mikie

You can just leave it for a while, it will separate on its own with the fuel floating on top of any water and then syphon it off. In fact, this is the process used to distillate ethanol from fuel, as it will settle with the water.

Fancy dress party failure . . . . . . . . . . back in our mid twenties a local friend had a big old US 70's ex-police car similar to the one in the photo. We lived fairly close to a university and frequented the local pubs. Often there would be end of term fancy dress or birthday parties which started in one of the local pubs and then moved on to the students accommodation. We carried a selection of vintage clothing and HBT clothing, web belts, water bottles and first-aid pouches in the trunk of the car and if we encountered students in fancy-dress we would dash out to the car and get dressed and go back into the pub. When the students moved on from the pub we would follow and no-one would question us as we appeared to have been invited to the party, and many follow up dates were made. 😜 🤣 🤣 We enjoyed many-many parties without question until we followed this one particular group back to the accommodation all went well for some time. I was mid conversation with a very attractive young lady when she suddenly looked at me enquiringly and said ' you're NOT a dentist '. I asked the significance of the question and she replied that EVERYONE else was a student dentist and it was their end of course party, BUSTED, we were out the door before being ASKED to leave . . . . . . . . . . . . . . our first failure. The largest turnout I've seen at a funeral, lovely service in Welsh and English ,place was packed with another 50 plus of us standing outside listening and watching on a tv screen. I managed to spend time with Rachel and pass on how much Tudor was liked and respected by the many that at some point got to interact with him via his love of history. A hard day for sure but nothing compared to what Rachel is having to deal with. Tudor would have been so proud of her today.

Ken and all the rest of you have made this a place of knowledge and good fun in good times and comfort in the not so good ones. I’ll end this on the up note that it’s less than 3 months until my daughter Kassidy’s wedding. I need to come up with a Father of the Bride speech that is no more than 2 1/2 minutes long. And also figure out how to do some kind of dance routine. Im not much of a dancer at the best of times. mikie

Hi mikie, I made several mistakes at my daughters wedding, normally I can stand up in front of any crowd of people and waffle on easily, this day of the wedding emotion got the better of me and it was an unmitigated word-salad of a speech, but people saw it was from the heart. My second mistake was wearing a style of patterned dress shirt I would never normally wear for the dance with my daughter after the reception, I mistakenly bought it as it appeared to look good on the mannequin in the store. My third mistake was not practising the ' father of the bride dance ' beforehand, but we smooched along together and got through it . . . . . It was great that friends offered their support on the out-come of the speech and that they had ' my back ' during the speech . . . . . John especially by holding his 9-0 card upside down to show 0-6 . . . . . . . . . . So my offerings to you are mentioned above, maybe you can take these on board. Norman D. Escht Posted November 10 #27050 Posted November 10 This was sung as final hymn at Tudors funeral, imagine a whole bunch of proud Welshman singing this and you've got what we experienced. The video shows the land that Tudor called home and was so proud of it.
