General Apathy Posted September 5 Share #26526 Posted September 5 . Normandy street flea market find. Last week a local friend found two of these straps marked ambulance litter support at a flea market, however they appear too long for his Dodge half-ton ambulance. He is wondering if they are for the later Dodge WC64 Knock-Down ambulance version or even possibly for train ambulance carriages. If anyone has any details they could share, the strap part number is WB10132. or WB 101432. Norman D. Landing, Forum Normandy Correspondent, September 05 2024. ... Hi Ken, A friend bought this book second hand and lo and behold look what it contains ............ mention of me and my Jeep at our village pub in the 1990's. Steve Well done Steve, fame as you say and it only took twenty years to learn of it, but not a mass circulation book, certainly not one fellow MVCG members would read. My father always had a drink Sunday lunchtime at our village Church Tavern, it was always amusing when meeting friends elsewhere and they would say in a loud voice ‘ See you in Church Sunday Arthur ‘. mikie Posted September 6 Share #26537 Posted September 6 I’m a victim of a kamikazi attack! Last week I got hit on the back of my head by a crow. It’s one of the two crows, Sherryl or Russell, that I’ve been feeding peanuts to since the shutdown emptied all the dumpsters. I’m certain it was an accident. They often fly by over my shoulder when I’m out on my break walks. I was fine for a couple of days but started having problems on Sunday. Turns out I have a mild concussion. So I’ll be wearing some protective headgear from now on. mikie

Here in Michigan they have barn swallows, if they feel threatened they all get in a row and dive bomb you one after the other.

General Apathy Posted Saturday at 09:10 PM Share #26541 Posted Saturday at 09:10 PM . Tonight's get together . . . . . The first Saturday in every month a French couple in Carentan open up their converted garage and collection as a 40's style cafe, serving drinks and typical wartime meals of boiled vegetables with ham hocks. The Garage is decorated with their collections of both civilian and WWII military pieces and equipment. It's a very pleasant atmosphere and brings together all like minded people visiting, and collect uniforms and vehicles civilian and / or military. Most tables were full with people eating so I only took this one shot of the decorated shelves and wall. The garage is about three vehicles in length it's hidden gem just out of the town centre. General Apathy Posted Sunday at 03:57 PM Share #26545 Posted Sunday at 03:57 PM . Brief report regarding a Sherman tank road accident . . . . . . I haven't seen any television or newspaper reports as yet. All I have presently is a telephone report from a friend that lives near where the accident happened around 16h00 on the 6th September It appears the tank was being carried on a transporter when the truck had a massive blow-out on one of the tyres ( tires ) the truck mounted the central barriers and ended up on the opposite direction route, the tank became detached and several cars were hit. My initial report stated three killed and seven wounded but I have NOT had this confirmed so far. . Sharing this with a friend in the USA, he reported that there had also been an accident over there involving another tank on the way to an airshow and one person killed. Norman D. Escht Posted Sunday at 05:14 PM Share #26548 Posted Sunday at 05:14 PM We had something similar a few years back on the M1 near Lutterworth. ( 2003 ) involving 3 British Army APC s on a transporter, returning vehicles from the Iraq war. Reading up about it the driver said a car swerved out in front of his truck causing him to brake hard which then jacknifed the trailer throwing the vehicles across the central reservation onto the oncoming traffic. Funny how minds play tricks, I was convinced this had happened on the M42 near to Ashby........
