Based on the true story of 89-year-old British World War II Royal Navy veteran Bernard Jordan who "broke out" of his nursing home to attend the 70th anniversary D-Day commemorations in France in June 2014. At the time it made National news on the television with requests to the population to report any sightings of him to the authorities due to concerns for his age and health. However I believe he got to the ferry port and tried to access the ferry without a passport, but he did make it across to the 70th celebrations. Supposedly Michael Caine announced that it would be his last film. Glenda Jackson the female lead died nine months after filming. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Great_Escaper Norman D. General Apathy Posted February 28, 2024 #25281 Posted February 28, 2024 . Liberation of Southern France 1944. I captured this screen grab of a civilian owned WWI US Liberty truck shown during a documentary about the liberation of Southern France in 1944, note on the radiator grille it's embossed with USA. The French FFI member appears to have US clothing and a weirdly painted or covered WWI style helmet. Not knowing anything of the background of the short clip featuring this truck included in the documentary, I am wondering if it is genuine to the liberation or a postwar anniversary celebration that the researchers have included. Hahhaaaaa, no worries about the second posting of that image, PSP details have a lot of interest for me since living here and seeing so much of it still in use one way or another. Dear old Dad used to enjoy a can of Spam once in a while. He used to tell us that the folks in Hawaii when he was stationed there could cook amazing things with it. We have a restaurant here called L&L Hawaiian BBQ that has a Spam recipe on the menu. I’ll have to try it one of these days but have somehow resisted so far.
