tigerfan Posted April 5, 2012 Share #1 Posted April 5, 2012 Just picked up this rare WWII American Women's Voluntary Services uniform. It has the hat, coat (with AWVS buttons) and skirt. I will let the photos tell the rest.

craig_pickrall Posted April 6, 2012 Share #7 Posted April 6, 2012 Very nice Home Front uniform. Here are a couple of things from LIFE Magazine that I have on the group. First is from the FEB 2, 1942 issue.

tigerfan Posted April 6, 2012 Author Share #10 Posted April 6, 2012 Thanks for the info on the uniform and the WWII AWVS magazine ads. I did see this winged insignia a few years back at a show but didn't know at the time who it was for. Although I still don't know what the insignia represents. JoAnntheGreat Posted October 14, 2017 Share #11 Posted October 14, 2017 Hi! Fabulous AWVS uniform. I have managed to get a cap like this one, a couple of buttons, and a shoulder badge but no luck on the uniform. I am a patternmaker and I am looking for a uniform like this to either buy or "rent". I never harm any garment while copying it. If you are interested let me know. Thanks, JoAnn
flyboy53 Posted October 15, 2017 Share #12 Posted October 15, 2017 Thank you for showing this. You should have pictured the buttons, though. The ones on my mother's uniform were wood painted gold. Her brown belt, a tiny tin collar device, a couple of wooden buttons, that hat device and a photo are all that are left of her uniform.
