Greg Robinson Posted April 28, 2007 Author Share #27 Posted April 28, 2007 I picked up this knife and sheath a little while back for $35. The knife appears to be a run of the mill third pattern. However, the sheath is handmade, but very well done. I don't consider any WW2 vintage Fairbairn Sykes as being "run of of mill"...not anymore. Maybe they don't have the value of the exalted 1st patterns but they're still legit collectibles and their values keep rising. I agree......it was a popular knife among all troops but I think the M3 became the favorite among US troops. Greg
Johan Willaert Posted April 28, 2007 Share #28 Posted April 28, 2007 Some Ranger Officers carried one in North Africa... Note the knife carried behind the holster on the Officer left George Stevens wore one during the ETO campaign while filming the war with his crew. He can be seen wearing it on several parts of the well known 'D-Day to Berlin' DVD. Here's a still from August 1944, just before entering Paris
