Here is an interesting pair of USMC Shoulder boards on EBAY. The sellers description:

EBAY

I have had these USMC Shoulder Knots in my collection for quite some time. They are a matched pair with captain insignia and an exceptionally nice variation of EGA s. These are definitely Pre World War II (pre WWII) and probably date back to the early 1930s. The gold braid is solid and intact with some age in the color of the gold braid. The Marine Corps EGAs are marked "Silver" on the eagle (note that it is marked silver and not sterling) and "Gold" on the Anchor. The "Silver" marking is most often associated with EGAs made by a jeweler, not a more common variety made by a manufacturer. Both EGAs show some wear as seen on one wing of each of the eagles where it looks like the tip is missing. The medal case has the manufacturer's emblem on the cover "The Hortsmann Uniform Co., Philadelphia." The case has some dents and dings but is clean and fully operational.

I thought the EGA's are interesting. Are they jeweler made?
