Josey Posted March 24, 2012 Share #1 Posted March 24, 2012 I recently picked up my second USAF civilian valor medal, the silver one, from a forum member here. It is marked sterling which leads me to my question on the other one. It is marked 10KGF, is this one gold? Also, since I didn't know there where two versions of this medal until I saw the silver one listed on the for sale forum are there any other types of these? 11-Bull Posted March 24, 2012 Share #2 Posted March 24, 2012 Josey, 10KGF means 10k gold filled. It is a thin layer of gold over a base metal. This denotes that it is a higher quality, thicker gold finish as opposed to standard gold plated items. It does contain gold, but I am sure the medal value is more than the metal value. Nice examples! Dave
