Bluehawk Posted March 15, 2012 Share #12 Posted March 15, 2012 There was a 2nd Bombardment Heavy squadron activated in 1944 which had been at Langley in 1940, and as for "A.B." that says "Air Base" to me - of which the 2nd ABS was located at (it seems) Mitchell Field. The 1st ABS was located at Langley during WWII and as early as 1936. So, in short, I have no firm idea, but it has again been fun trying to find a historical thread to chase  Source: http://forum.armyairforces.com/m73950-print.aspx I believe, also, that bases in that part of the nation would often have been assigned to 1st Air Force.
