CW 653 VRC,OD radio covers,unissued

Guys,a local junk man has a large quantity of canvas radio covers marked...........CW 653 VRC......all are unissued.I think I can get them fairly CHEAP but are they even worth lugging home?What era are they from?None are dated and they are not in any type of box.................just in a pile on the floor of his shop.

Here's some information that may help:-

 

For your RT-524 or RT-246 you need to find a "Cover, Canvas, CW-653/VRC (FSN

5820-082-3741)". These are not easy to get ahold of, because the Military

decided in 1983 that the canvas cover caused more problems than it

solved..... such as water retention, overheating etc........ so it ceased to

be an issue item and its use was no longer authorised.

 

Just for information, the canvas cover for the R-442 receiver is the

CW-649/VRC (FSN 5820-082-3742)
