Need help with ID - US Navy Bullion What?

I decided to take a chance on this piece as it didn't cost much ($13.50) and looked somewhat old having something to do with the US Navy. Was this a US Naval hat piece?

I believe that's a US Naval Academy rank insignia...Midshipman 1st Class (non officer). Not sure on the era, though...

It is a USNA rank insignia for sure. Based on the bullion I would say its probably from the 20's or 30's .

Yep,

 

Its a USNA Midshipman 1st class. Could be anywhere from the WW1 period to the early 30's
