js584 Posted March 10, 2012 Share #1 Posted March 10, 2012 I picked this up a few years ago and never really paid any attention to it until now. I have searched the forum but to no avail. Then I thought maybe a sweetheart item but sweetheart items don't normally have the posts on them do they? Anyway here it is -cap size enlisted EGA?? -no hallmarks -looks to be gold painted lead (I have econo-lead egs and this isnt anything like them) -the post threads are an odd size (bigger than any egas I have) -weighs close to 30 grams! -much thicker than any egas I have seen Any ideas on type, era, origin????? I'm stumped.

usmcaviator Posted March 10, 2012 Share #3 Posted March 10, 2012 Looks like someone's attempt (home made, or foreign) at recasting a typical WW2 era enlisted hat device. Your description seems to tell all....lead, painted, heavy..... Not much collector's value here I'm afraid. S/F, Mike

js584 Posted March 10, 2012 Author Share #6 Posted March 10, 2012 Does it look like this one:http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/ind...howtopic=134638 The front is similar but the back isnt close other than the post. I can still see the casting marks (beading). I'm sure it must be some variant of it though.
