Geoff was able to get copies from Chase's service record for me! He did a great job. Here are some of them:

Kurt, It's great that you were able to get some documentation on the LoM and Purple Heart from the personnel file. Very lucky that it survived the fire! Having the details on the awards really brings the group to life. (And the photo is great too.) The February 1943 wound date for the PH is interesting. I wonder what the specifics were on the injury. Obviously some sort of mistreatment by the Japs.

I just recently acquired the grouping to the American Col. who was the Adjutant of the Hoten POW camp in Mukden Manchuria.

 

In his group was Col. Chase's Japanese POW camp card.

 

What a small world.
